... and seemed to be in a rush to shop and sightsee. Little did they know how nice yesterday was... snicker. Anyway, after a short wait I had my omelette and coffee and decided to head back to the room until the clouds opened up a bit to do anything today. At about noon my luck turned and I actually saw some blue skies overhead. The few clouds were still around, and rolling by quickly, but I wanted to venture out to the south end of town where I hadn't ...

Quickly, a new cross was erected by the soldiers to signify they were still safe. The cross has since been replaced but is now a visible reminder of the freedom that was won during the Croatian war. Good feed and off to bed for a decent sleep and hopefully pull up a bit better in the ...

We arrive and pull back our curtains to our room and wow what a pretty place. All of the houses and multiple level apartment buildings are built into the hills either side of the inlet, all built in a similar style and colour, cream render with terracotta roof tiles. Today we are heading off on a local village tour, we weren't quite sure what to expect as we didn't really know much about Dubrovnik. We have a later start and head for our bus at 9.30am. This was the first time ...

... waterfront promenade, the old town takes your breath away. We headed out to the Diocletion Palace which faces the harbor. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage site and is said to be one of the most imposing Roman ruins in existence. The Roman emperor Diocletion, known for his persecution of early Christians, had the palace built (295-305) for his retirement from lustrous white stone. Surrounded by high walls, the entire structure covers 31,000 sq. meters. When the nearby colony ...
