... to Kandy to worship Buddha's left wisdom tooth. Besides that, there is a yearly festival going on in Kandy. It takes place in July or August and lasts 11 days. This year the festival will be falling on the days between the 1st and 11th of August. During the festival the replica of the Tooth Relic is carried in a special glass/golden box on the elephant's back. The elephant that is honored with carrying of the Tooth Relic is colorfully decorated.
