-As I arrive to Weed CA I notice a huge museum with many historical things. I was in need of gas so I stopped at an Arco station to fill up. My plan is to have my next stop in Eugene OR, to visit the university of Oregon. I am hoping to visit at least 3 colleges on my road trip.

... Mt. Shasta including a full blown tour of what's-what and price inquiries at all the promising hotels. We ended up staying at the Alpine Lodge, one if the more hiker priced and quality establishments in town. By the time we checked in and set our bags down it was only 6:30 pm. Plenty of life left on a young night in a new place. And guess what? We were across the street from the local Chinese restaurant! Afterwards we detoured ...

Nothing like waking up next to a dirt road. There had been one bold and curious deer in the night but my timing was good and I am sure I gave it a solid scare. Other than that, we slept soundly. ... climbing. We could see the summit of Mount Shasta, which was awesome. But after a ways, the trail wasn't matching my trail notes, and it seemed to be turning and going in the wrong direction. We decided we were on the wrong trail and headed down. But it was cool to see the summit of Mount Shasta from that hike.
