Apart from the mountain passes there are lots of other interesting places around. An added bonus is that we can cycle so for the first time in six weeks the bicycles are one the road. The only “local hazard” is the high incidence of uncontrolled dogs along the way. Evidently they do bite and we should always carry rocks to throw at them. ... Yet another example of the wonderful friendliness and hospitality we have found everywhere in this country.

There's satellite TV so for a first time in a fortnight we catch up with BBC and CNN news. All doom and gloom, we shouldn't have bothered. And for the first time since leaving Germany there is no wifi, so this tale will have to wait until the next cafe or gas station along the route.

On the way out the door in the morning, we stopped to feed the starving puppy and realized that he must've told one of his friends because he’d multiplied by 2. Not sure whether we should be feeding stray dogs around the hotel, we ditched our day-old bread and high-tailed it out of there.

... was a big day of sightseeing, in the morning we wandered around the medieval old town of Braşov. We started with the First Romanian School with a passionate curator telling us about the books, including the first Romanian Bible and the first Romanian printing press.
