... on the heritage trail. By the end of the 5 days it felt like we knew the heritage area really. Well. It is interesting, with lots of old buildings from the arrival of the different Chinese clans. The richer more prosperous ones set up big temples, and clan houses to provide housing and look after the people from their clans who newly arrived. There is a water village here too, out over the harbour. It is not nearly as big as the one in Brunei. ...

... the beach, with almost all of the boys having ocean and beach views from their windows. The rooms aren't as nice as the last two hotels though.

Still having no luck uploading photos, while the internet seems to be a little bit better here, its still not fast enough to allow for the photos to upload before the connection is timed out. Will keep working on it as I have taken lots of good ...

... restaurant for some Indian fast food. It was probably some of the best Indian food I've ever had. Afterwards we tried to go to Monkey Beach but it was closed already. Instead we decided to fill up on petrol and just rode around the island for a bit. We ended up going back to Tree Monkey for dinner just because it was so serene and the view was so great. ... It was SO MUCH FUN. The hostel had hired a team of Lion Dancers to come and I guess "bless" the hostel for the new year. First they went through the whole hostel and into all of the rooms, and then there was a dance on the roof which included one of the lions "eating" a cabbage (or some kind of green vegetable) that was hanging from the ceiling, whilst another one "ate" oranges. I think there was some kind of fight between them as well, but it was all so choreographed ...
