Tavernelle - last days in Umbria

... so I headed off to get my trunks on. After about 96 goes on the pink one, these times with Jo and I participating, it was time for the big blue one. Not sure what the height limit was but Flynn was way to short. No worries, its Italy. We shoved some floaties on him and stuck him in at the top: a bit of gravity, a bit of adrenalin (his and ours) and out he popped at the bottom. Too easy. Time for the giant twister - two tubes twisting round each other. It was a bit ...

We've had the most wonderful afternoon taking cooking lessons from two delightful ladies, Tita (from Perugia) and Nonie (from New York). This is taken from umbriacooks4u website:

Umbriacooks4u grew out of our longtime friendship, which began in 1974 at the University of Perugia, capital of Italy’s Umbrian Region. We are Nonie, a native New Yorker who finds great joy in entertaining, and Tita, a native of Umbria who loves to cook. In ...

So many towns to choose from in Umbria…. Where to pick to base ourselves for our 9 night Umbrian stay? After much umming and ahhing we chose Spoleto, which turned out to be the perfect spot. Initially we had decided that we would make do with public transport and use buses and trains for our day trips, but after a day or 2, we quickly decided a car was the way to go, and I am SO glad we did. We justified the extra expense by using our mum's birthday money to Mikey ...

    Impressions of Assisi

A travel blog entry by travellingshoes on Aug 13, 2014

    1. For some reason Richard had wanted to pop in here - we had debated whether we would - totally glad we did. 2. Being quite amazed as we drove in at the size of the church do Assisi and the town perched on the top of a hill (now there is a surprise!). 3. The contrast between the simplicity of Assisi (giving everything up for the poor) and the scale of the church built in his "honour" 4. Our crazy GPS leading us along some tiny narrow lanes just to get out of Assisi to the main road ...
