The last part of our weekend excursion was our stop in Assisi. We started our Sunday with a Mass led by our American seminarians in one of the many chapels of the Basilica of St. Francis. After the mass we took a tour of the Basilica looking at the frescos that told the story of St. Francis' life. Then we went down to his tomb, that was a beautiful celebration of his life and his spirit. None of these ...

For those of you who know me, you know that I have not grown up with a religious background. However, all these visits to important ...

... we got a local guide to tell us a little of the history of the town and of Saint Francis. After hearing all the stories a lot of things started to click in. I then understood why Pope Francis chose his name. I understood and embrace my religion more by being there, something I thought would happen in Rome, but instead it happened ...

... full of amazing mosaics. After a few hours in Ravenna, we had a 3 1/2 hour driving through the Alps until we arrived in Tuscany just as there was the most magnificent sunset ever. Our hotel in Assisi is up high on the hill by the Basilica. It is a warming evening and the moon is almost full. It has been a truly glorious day. Cannot wait to see what tomorrow brings. Remembering you all in prayer at these amazing ...
