    Today we left about 8am to visit the old city in Split. On the way it was very hot and one poor lady on our bus, which had no ventilation, looked like she was about to faint. She had to get off the bus and recuperate on the footpath with her husband. The old city reminded us of Venice, a maze of lanes and courtyards, cobbled streets and boutiquey shops and market stalls.     ... on a very hot and exhausting day and also very fun to be a part of.

    At around 5 we went back and got a bite to eat before heading to grab our bags and jumping on the airport transfer. It was a really good day and incredible to see another city, especially another UNESCO world heritage site. However I would not have wanted to spend to much more time here, it is a central hub of the area to get to a lot of places however there was little to do and it didn't compare to Hvar ...

    ... of screens they have these roller door type blinds which block out the light but also all the airflow. As you would have read it is very hot here in Split so we have the air on whenever we are home, but at night we have to sleep with the bedroom doors open otherwise we would suffocate. Ok for a family but for a couple and a single...not ideal.
    6. There are hollywood style lights around the mirror in the bathroom but do you think I can find the switch ...

    ... of their wine. I had read the book "Judgement in Paris" about when the US beat the French wines in 1976 (great book by the way). Mike Grgich, immigrated from Croatia and was the winemaker for Napa's Chateau Montelana one of the wines that won. He now has his own winery in Napa and has opened another in Croatia, just north of Dubrovnik. I hope to taste one of his wines on the trip!
