    ... drive from Dubrovnik so we hit the road. I played navigator while Joe drove and there were lots of signs to Split but it was completely different to what the GPS had routed. We finally determine that the signs leading us to Split went through Bosnia. We didn't have any issues at border control they just waved us through.     I arrived back in Split early to allow myself to find a nice quiet place to write a job application that was in desperate need of being tackled. However, it was also the warmest day since I had arrived in Croatia so all I wanted to do was hit the nearest beach and soak up the last of the European summer. So... Of course...     ... one of 2 ways, first option was that we have a quiet night on the boat and be fresh for the next day, second option was rolling home at some time in the early ours. Not planned but subtly predicted we went with the latter and found ourselves getting home at about 3am with a custom made fresh Burek* in hand and a couple of surprise encounters – not PG rated.

    ... We were head on with a van and slammed our breaks, luckily they did too. We had sore backs and necks but carried on to the petrol station to fill up for our trip. We realised we had a flat tyre so had to go back to the car rental for them to sort it out.

    ... were almost twice the normal height and still the same depth, and I'd have to say that the steel frame for the stairs up to the top was a little bit shaky... But when we got to the top we had a great view out over a lot of Split. From above, the old town definitely lost a lot of it's "oldness" with a lot of buildings appearing to be less authentic than their facades made us believe.
