So Day 4 we biked from Sarria to Palas de Rei. I was a bit worst for the wear from the day before so it was a real slog and hotter than ever. Walking day today, so we opted for the shorter $10 instead of spending $25 on the longer one. So had a bit of a lay in, bacon and egg for breakfast and then set off on a long windy path down to the falls. Got up at 5.30 and started a drive day in the freezing cold, everyone wrapped up in layers and blankets after another freezing night! Stopped after a couple of hours at a cute little cottage that did fry ups and had a bacon roll, then drove onto the town of Mutare for shopping. Went to the bank, watch Dom run away from cars, and got lunch of cheesy bread with cheese in, and ended up with 6 lollipops ...
After last night Stacey and I decided not to go into Harare with everyone, instead laying in til about 11, which was so good and much needed! Did some washing and then joined some of the others who'd come back from town - only going to the bank and Nandos, just sitting in the sun for ages whilst some people went on a boat ride around the lake hoping to see hippos, but ...
... lads highly suspicious. Despite our wits defeating them I still feel at a loss since all I wanted was a carefree swim in paradise. Hmm. I guess I feel that juxtaposed with the beauty of Cape Maclear is the negative human behaviour exhibited here by tourism opportunists. Great, but not a place I might come back to.
