... girl who sat on he top step leading to the open air deck and the attendant asked him to move downstairs. The QPR guy refused and said his little girl wanted to be outside (like that should allow him to?!). So after some chit chat and the attendant saying only 28 people could be on the upper deck they guy slips down a step and says that he's not on the 3rd deck so there shouldn't be a problem. I think the attendant didn't know what to do so just let him sit there to avoid any ...
Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa mindabarley... they have a fantastic aquarium. They actually allow the public to scuba dive in the tanks and swim with the sharks. Although we didn't have this planned, we had to do it. We love those spontaneous activities they always turn out to be some of the most best. This one was no exception. We had a chance to swim with the sharks this time without a cage! The divemaster was very specific about what we could and could not do in the ...
Cape Town, South Africa vangorp... had changed when our bus stopped at the first gas station in South Africa. Not only did it have gas, but it was also replete with a functioning ATM, clean toilets and a mini-mart stocked with all manner of food and drink that could rival any you would find in the States. What made this all the more amazing was that we were hundreds of kilometers from the nearest major city; the gas station was in the middle of nowhere. I felt like dropping to my knees and weeping with joy ...
Cape Town, South Africa nomadic1...
Cape Town, South Africa juffieinafrika... South Africans about this country, its apartheid legacy and where it is headed in the future, it is a very complicated series of emotions that a typical "white" South African feels when discussing these various issues. Let's just say, it's a topic best left for when I return, because I don't think I could do it (or more importantly them) justice on paper. Another thought provoking part of the morning part of the tour was the ...
Capetown, South Africa clementsl... in everything from cardboard boxes to truck beds to empty shipping containers. I think those steel containers must make for an insanely hot beauty shop, but people seem to make the most of their surroundings. We visit a family in their home with about 12 people living in an area for 4, and are told that the government is rebuilding many of the houses in the townships as part of their commitment to providing more equitable housing to its citizens. A shy ...
Cape Town, South Africa charmedlife... was the wind but Im not convinced!). The following day we ended up at Etosha Park camp, which was Amazing!!!!!! Our camp (like most) had a fab sweimming pool, but also a watering hole 50 metres from where we camped. We literally sat behind a small wall and 50 metres away was all kind of game: herds of elephants (lots of babies!), giraffe, rhino, springbok. Our drive to the park uncovered more animals than we saw on the game drive - we even saw lion. Soooo cool.
Capetown SA and Namibia, South Africa laird... so too! Only to go back to my tent and check and realise that they were in fact bloody Larium..apparently they give you serious depression (even once you stop the pills) and hallucinations and nightmares!!! Now living in a bush and ALREADY being quite scared of most oddly/peculiar looking things (if you consider scared to mean jumping out of your seat at the feel or sound of anything...and I mean ANYTHING crawling near or on you )....ESPECIALLY LOCUSTS AND GRASSHOPPERS ...
