0134 Phum Wat Bo, Khum Salakomreuk Siem Reap, Cambodia
... across passing a library building and a pond on either side. Heading up the steps we were now in the Terrace of Honour, which led directly to the Gallery of Bas Reliefs. The gallery extended around the perimeter of the first level of the temple: seven hundred metres of walls, two metres high, covered in carvings depicting stories, legends and battles.

We climbed steps and emerged in various rooms, then exited and found ourselves in a central walled courtyard, with towers on ...
Siem Reap, Cambodia alastair6... souvenirs, scarves, postcards, name it. Well, at least everything that is worth less than a buck is a buck.

Two days ago, we met two little girls who would've qualified for top sales prizes had they been born in a different country and working for a sales-driven corporation, instead of working at Mommy's restaurant at one of the temples in Angkor. The first girl was by the road, greeting all the tourists getting off the buses or tuk tuks ...

We resisted most though did get ourselves a fake lonely planet for Nepal complete with bad photocopying that has been penned back in!

Next day and its already time to leave Cambodia. Siem Reap, Cambodia feeandpete... disappoint and had a lovely red carpet picture of Angie in a tight leather number. I was shocked when Andrea did not order the drink named for the Actress, opting for the house white wine. [Andrea: I forgot to take a picture by the signed Angelina poster at dinner, but made Jenn promise we could go back for the photo opp tonight. I am also considering adopting a Cambodian orphan. I don’t care what anyone says, I love Angelina.]
Siem Reap, Cambodia jdet32... us his, so we agree. We arrive there and are greeted with cold towels and a free drink. Bloody hell, must be dear... We ask to see a room. It is lovely, with TV, hot shower and free drinking water (very important!) and its 9USD for a fan room (for both of us! So 4.5USD each, roughly 3GBP a night! Craziness. So we say Yes Please! Oh, did i mention the free internet, brekfast. umbrella and flip flops?

So a good end to a long, crazy story in the end...

Meirion out.
Siem Reap, Cambodia meirion.rees... had cleared considerably. I headed to this incredible temple called Angkor Thom. This was by far the best temple I saw today, althoug the others were quite amazing too. The intricate designs on the temple walls were absolutely breathtaking. I felt like I had stepped into a time machine. I explored several other temples including ones that were dangerously steep and had tall, narrow, deterioating, slippery, stone steps which made the long ascents and descents quite exciting. <br ...

Siem Reap, Cambodia princesscheryl... quiet little ruin, nestled in a quiet forest, and he took me back to the entrance to the Preah temple to collect my bike. Beforehand, I'd had a snack and a drink. He admitted that trying to sell clothes at the stall was a waste of time given the amount that was being sold. Really, he was after a few extra bucks to fill the petrol tank of the scooter. I handed a few over for his trouble and left.
I toured around on the sandy thoroughfares and passed a few open ...
Siĕmréab, KH.16, Cambodia supremacy... as towards Angkor as people continued to take pictures – best idea ever – the temple itself was deserted and we managed to spend the next hour or so looking around with minimum intrusion, very peaceful indeed – in some parts we were the only people. By the time we had seen what we wanted here it was time for food and the crowds were descending. We stopped at the Angkor Reach for breakfast which is opposite the entrance to Angkor Wat. **** – not ...
Siem Reap, Cambodia gdvc... fail, mean ecological and, by extension, social disasters.

By the time we reached Bangkok it had begun to rain. This was very unusual for this time of year and nobody we met could explain it. Parts of the capital had flooded and people stalked the streets looking silly with plastic bags on their heads and around their shoes. We both came down with colds.

Unfortunately we had one week left in Thailand and I was still waiting for my new Visa card to ...
