... as the giant pandas, there are also red pandas, which were clearly badly named as they're more like raccoons! As a contrast to the tranquility of the pandas, we went to see the Sichuan 'Opera' which thankfully was more of a compilation of various Chinese arts than an entire opera which tend to mainly consist of very high-pitched wailing by a heavily made- up woman. ...

... the phonetics, and I must admit that we were caught up in it, laughing along. Sadly the only one we remembered was ‘Yo ju’ which basically means ‘look, a pig’ (don’t ask when this guy was going to use that, I have no idea either). Ahhhh, the weekend!! The team was ready for a break, although it still ended up being a very busy day. Got an early 8 AM start to leave for the Giant Panda reserve in north Chengdu. A fantastic outing - had good sunny weather, not too crowded. The grounds are beautifully laid out and landscaped, bamboo covers the walkways so they are shaded and cool, and there are plenty of places to explore. We quite near the Chengdu Blades Football Stadium (Sheffield Utd own them hence the name) To be fair they'd probably give the Blunts a decent game at the minute!
