We flew from Guilin to Chengdu on 19th July, the flight was good and surprisingly included a meal! On arrival at Chengdu airport we followed signs for the airport shuttle, it only cost 10 each and took around 40mins to the centre. As such it was just deafening, and believe or not, some people were actually dancing! We moved away as soon as possible, walking to a quieter area. ... filled the river bed with huge amounts of rubble which smoothed the river flow rather than anything too spiritual.

There are spiral staircases to acces the Buddha but we took the easy option and did our viewing from a boat. This way you get good pictures but miss out on any real connection and of course the exercise. The buddha is flanked by 2 smaller cravings The Sleeping Buddha and one that is so weathered you cannot see it.

... got out of the car, one experience richer! hmm, so much for our boring day.
We went up to our room and made ourselves a cub of herbal tea. It is so good it is the tea we purchased in Beijing by the temper of heaven. calmed down and took the kids to the pool.
We are a little stressed today as there are problems with our flight from Honk Kong to Tahiland. We are leaving for Honk Kong tomorrow and spending tow nights there ( we really felt that would be enough) ...
