... Abby and I went wig crazy. The wigs were only a few dollars and we wanted Chinese hairdos to go with our traditional Chinese dresses. Everyone loved trying on the wigs. It was hilarious and the girls had a splendid time. Then, we walked them back to their dorms and said goodbye one last time. It was very moving for us as well as for them.

... back through the centre of Xian to the Hotel is interesting. During the daytime, the city appeared grey and ugly, but at night it's bright and lively, with a good atmosphere. The streets are still crowded and the shops are still open, though it's gone 9.00pm. And the two old towers in the centre, the Drum Tower and the Bell Tower, both dating from about 1420 are brilliantly floodlit - which makes them stand out in relation to McDonalds, Starbucks, KFC etc. - that contrast again ...
