We left Xian around 9.45pm and took our first overnight Chinese train to Chongquing arriving at 8.30am. During times it seemed a rocky and violent ride but it was pleasant enough to get some rest and certainly a one up from the Indian overnight trains. We shared a 4 birth room with a young Chinese fella who kept Jon up all night with his snoring but lucky for me I slept relatively well thanks to my ear plugs! ... from New Zealand. Next, we headed to the ancient village of Ci Qi Kou (Chongqing's "old town"). This was really good fun, and we wandered around the nice little alleyways and picked up a few little gifts. We also managed to find some veggie street food, including chopped up roast potatoes, smothered in spices and chilli sauce and a chocolate pancake!
