... eons away and now we are here. We had a couple of shots of kirsch in the evening to celebrate. As he said, he never thought he would be in China for his 64th!! Today I checked out for the day due to internal working problems and Mike has just returned having seen the panda breeding station. Baby ones in incubators and 2 year olds. ... we drove to the downtown center and we had about an hour to wander around. We visited a nine story center that is built into the side of the hill. It is where the people used to live before the city became so big and filled up with condominiums. It was interesting to walk around and see what was offered. protected it. The government built a very nice marketplace with little shops
for everyone, since tourism is their biggest business here, but the rents were
too high and no one moved in. The just set up tables along the street instead.
Seems like they need to lower the rent! Everywhere we go we see so much
building going on, but we also see many many buildings that appear unoccupied.

After having a wonderful and relaxing time on the Yangtze river enjoying the breathtaking views of the lesser gorges, mountains and happy locals, we headed to Chong Qing and back to the bustle of the city.
Chong Qing was an interesting city known for its spicy cuisine. After an orientation walk, Ricky took us to a restaurant to try the famous Hot Pot. Curious, I couldn't wait to see what this Hot Pot meal was about.
Had a fantastic time on the boat, though the 3 gorges and amazing scenery. Took a small little made worryingly out of wood, still unsure how it floated. Went though smaller gorges and felt like we were the only people about. Slightly embarrassing t-shirt tan lines from the boat but had a great time. Over and out ...
