what is traveling around bristol like, in general?

We spent a day there last month. The main things to see are really within a fairly walkable distance, although there is a hill involved...
There are ferries that go on the River Avon, and there are some bike routes. The city bus system seemed fairly good as well. We even saw a couple of open-top tour buses. What kind of travel are you planning?
