Hi guys,

Hopefully someone has been down there. Just wondering is it feasible to get from Aswan to Abu Simbel and back again in a day on the bus? Distances and bus timetables are an unknown for me but I heard accommodation is very expensive there so would like to avoid it if possible.

Yes you can just hire a taxi for the day (share the cost with others) and make the return trip easily. It's not very expensive getting taxis either.

I was there 3 years ago. Taxi's weren't possible, you had to get a bus on a convoy, protected by armed military due to the massacre several years back.

I did exactly what you want to do. EARLY morning ( 4am? ) on the bus to Abu then backt he same day. Very doable.
