TravelPod is working on improving statistics options on your blog. We want to know what kind of stats are important to you.

Would you like to know where your visitors are coming from? How about the number of hits daily? or number of hits monthly?

Let me know, and I'll tell the developers.
mmbcross
It all sounds good to me. Origin of the visitors would be helpful. Daily hits is a bit over the top, but monthly would be great.

Could you add the date back on the entries? It seems to have disappeared in the last week or so and only shows up at the bottom now.
Jacques
The date s are still there or is is something else than the date of the entry?

Good point Rich, never even noticed. Where're the dates guys? Top of the entry? Usually under entry title?

Origin of the visitors would be good, as so many of us have been utilising the clustermaps feature, any reason why we can't achieve a similar thing?

While daily hits maybe slightly over the top, I'd imagine some might like to know and it if doesn't hurt to generate simple extra statistics like this, why not include them? At least (as always) provide the option?

Personally, I'd like to see more trip-based statistics, like countries/continents/kilometres travelled and all the things associated with the geography of our travels to date, but then I and others have listed these in great detail before, so no point typing a mass of text if it means going over old ground that can easily be resurrected. Haven't got time to go through the archives right now but definitely worth reviving now that we've got a few new faces around..
Jacques
Ok. I see where you mean Rich. I'll try to find out why.

OK....The missing dates have been found wandering off and have now been guided back to where they belong!

It certainly would be nice to know where visitors come from. Would it be possible to identify if they're linking / clicking through from somewhere? My travelblogs are pretty ancient, so I can't believe that the number of hits I still get a month is anything to do with my friends and family; I'd love to know who's still reading, or at least what pointed them in my direction...

We discussed this a bit way back in http://www.travelpod.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3797 ; at the time, the general conclusion was clustermaps was the best available option, though that still doesn't help us establish if a particular link or whatever is pointing readers towards our blogs...

Where they are from would be great to know (that way I could tell if random readers are checkingn in or if it is only my friends (who know I am travelling)

Hi! I wrote a rather lengthy reply to this last night - but my login timed out and poof! it disappeared - so, will be more brief this time! blink.gif

It WOULD be really nice to have information about who/where/when hit on our sites - fun, but definitely NOT necessary!

My personal #1 wish is to NOT show up as having traveled "ZERO PERCENT of the world", when in fact, we travel full time in our motorhome through North America, and have well over 200 entries and are on our third year of TravelPodding! Along the same lines - being considered an "Armchair Traveler" when we have about 70,000 land miles under our belts since January '06!. There really must be a better way - or just make it disappear from our home page, because it irks me every time I see it!! ranting2.gif

Thanks!

That's too bad that it disappeared!

I don't know why your map says 0%, very strange... mine says 6% and I've traveled way less than you. I'll ask some computer savvy people about it.

It's because you've crossed an ocean, and we've only criss-crossed the U.S. and Canada. I think the website was originally set up for WORLD travelers - and those who stay on one continent aren't considered real travelers!! yawn.gif

Yes, Shaun the computer guru says that it's calculated by countries visited, not geographical distance covered or anything like that. That is a bummer, isn't it?
bakasyonista
Yes, I'd like to know too as to who view my blog.

I learned about travelpod through friendster site. My travelpod application in friendster only recorded 1 trip and 0% visit of the world.

I am not familiar wih Friendster...but am happy to point out that, thanks to Luc's flowers.png responsiveness to my crabbing (and others, too, I'm sure!), TravelPod AND Facebook links to TravelPod now show the number of countries visited, instead of a meaningless percentage.

That's strange, I just double checked my TravelPod app in Friendster and it is working fine. It shows all of my trips.
When you installed it, which trip did yours show?
bakasyonista
It shows my map pins. But under the map it says:
1 trip
0 travel blog entries
0 countries
0 photos
starlagurl
Did you click on edit and enter your TravelPod ID and all that?
bakasyonista
Let me do just that. I'll let you know.
bakasyonista
It works. Thank you very much.
kitkatgo
Well, I like stats, so I'm all for whatever info is available.

I wouldn't mind seeing the number of visitors per entry. Some of my blogs include many varied trips, so it would be interesting to see which entries people are looking at.

I'm with you there, Kit. I've been asking for this one over and over again too. I hope it's right around the corner.
