Thanks for all the info on Iran Uncle Davros. I really admire you for your overland trip that you took. I hope to do this myself. The FAQ is excellent but I have a couple of questions
How long does it take to get an Iranian visa?
I see in your blog that you visited Bisotun. Is it worth going to see the carvings and is it hard to get to?
I really want to see the Ziggerat. Do you know if you can get public transport from Bisotun to the Ziggerat?
I hope this is not to much to ask

Thanks for the information Zento. I emailed Uncle Davros and he was able to give me all the information that I needed. From getting around, to the visa situation and extensions. He knows it all. What an interesting guy he is. We have had a few conversations and I can't believe how much he knows. It's a pity he doesn't post anymore as it seems to me that he is a big loss to Travelpod. He has also pointed me in the direction of the Thorntree as there was even more information there. I can't believe he is off to Libya. I didn't know you could get in there. I am going to email him when he is back to get the lowdown on Libya.
Zento, you are so lucky that you live in London. He said to say hi and he will see you when he gets back. I really need to get in to London myself to meet him. I hope you have fun with him. Judging from his previous two Travelpod meetings which I read on his blog, I am sure you will be entertained.

Yes, Uncle D is a very knowledgable guy, especially about some places in the M.E. He is also a great tour guide! We had loads of fun in London!
Maybe you could share some of the answers he gave you to your questions? It might help out some others who may have the same inquiries. Are you planning a trip to Iran in the near future?

I just wanted to put up a note reccomending www.key2persia.com I used them to get my auth code and they were very helpful, I got it in a bit under 3 weeks, longer than antisipated, but no extra costs and they even sent the application off before I had payed as I was having trouble contacting my bank. at 30€ it was alot cheaper than many other servises.
I got my visa processed in Ankara with no hastle in 24 hours.
