I am planning on going to Europe this month. I been to many places in Western Europe, such as the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, etc. Yet never been to Sweden, Austria. Also never been to so-called new states of Coatia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, etc, etc. Heard that they are quite wonderful new countries to visit, for a change! (from good old Westrn Europe)

I'm single, male and got 10-14 days max on hand for this off-line off-work vacation. Frankly, I am not much into sight seeing, memorials visitng, and the like, more of night owl, bar hopping at night, laid back dog day!

Any pointers/suggestion on which ONE country to visit in this time frame. Thnx!

Jeez! How to pick just one from your list...?! And just to party for 10-14 days...

Well, if it helps...I went to Tallinn in Estonia for a long weekend that I don't remember much of...! I know that Latvia was pretty close as well though, and that the weekend involved a taxi with beers and a driver named "Why Lady?" heading to a beach party somewhere in Latvia that locals recommended to me and my friend. The taxi didn't cost much either, despite a border crossing - so you could potentially do both of them...?

Unfortunately I don't have a blog on it, because like I said - not much remembered! But somehow I think that's what you're looking for from your trip?!

If I do remember correctly, Scandinavia has some pretty good nightlife.. My Croatian friend also often talks fondly about the nightlife there too, and if by laidback you're including beaches then the Adriatic [Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Albania, Greece!] would probably be a better bet than landlocked Austria and the Czech Republic!

There's a number of blogs about Europe on the site, if you want to flick through them. I'm sure we have some party animals in here somewhere tongue.gif

I noticed that you did not mention Greece at all.
I would suggest that you fly to Athens instead. Greece is very beautiful and you can visit either Mykonos, or Santorini.....since you are a single male. Or there are hundreds of other places in Greece to visit as well.

Yes, Kathryn77 suggested that you pick one destination and she is right.
Just enjoy all your vacation in one good destination.
I promise that if you come to Greece you will SURELY want to return again next year.

Have a look in my blogs... I have more than 2.800 photos in them, and you can find Greek destinations, and beautiful Islands.
See the photos from Santorini, Skiathos, Evia, and my most recent is the Island of Samos for which I am still busy preparing the entries and downloading more photos.

I guarantee that you will have the holidays of your life here my friend.
I will help you and recomment a destination if you decide to visit Greece.
In the meantime have a look on my blogs if you wish.

Scandanavia is expensive though, keep that in mind!

I'd probably recommend heading down to Croatia to be honest, you can chill on the beach by day and then party by night... plus its still pretty cheap.

Gona have to to do some quick reading into each of them destinations you mentioned. Time is short, I shud decide before end of the week on which way to go. Cheerio!

Note: No mention of Ukraine. Is it really that bad! gloomy or what!

Haha! Well good luck - let us know what you come up with!

I do hear Ukraine is pretty neat actually, although I haven't been there myself so I wouldn't really know...

Of the countries you mentioned, I would recommend either Austria/Hungary or Prague, Czech Republic.

Austria and Hungary are both beautiful and only a 3-hour train ride away from each other. I spent two days in Austria and 5 in Hungary and it was such a beautiful trip. I would recommend a night cruise/boat on the Danube River...simply breathtaking.

I spent 3 days in Prague and loved it! So much to see and do and it's so easy to get around in public transport (the same goes for Vienna, Austria). Good luck!

I haven't been to many countries in the so called western area of Europe...Austria and Germany are the only ones that I can think of. However, I have been through Eastern Europe quite a bit and I can definitely recommend you a couple of places.

Estonia is a must. A beautiful country with an extremely proud people, plus Tallinn's old town can quite possibly be the most charming old town I have ever been in. Tallinn's partying scene is great (Valli Bar and Kunta Kurtz)...though if you want a lot of sightseeing the city is quite small. I also went to Tartu, but there wasn't much to do. If you do go, stay at Hostel Terviseks, you will never want to leave. Great guys run that place.

Latvia is also quite good, Riga always offers a fun time. The beach is nearby, as is some pretty neat bungee jumping in Sigulda.

Poland is always fun as well, definitely stop in Krakow and Wroclaw for some pub time. I definitely suggest Hungary and Czech Republic as well.
