#4, without a shadow of a doubt..
travelmonster
Number 4 by a mile.
starlagurl
Yep, same here, I liked #1 a lot but it was a little cloudy...not the photographer's fault of course...
jacquesl
I had a fear that the Stonehenge photo might not get much interest because it's a photo we see around a lot..... but look at the clarity and quality of that particular photo ..it's just great....

So please, don't bypass it because you've seen photos of Stonehenge before...but do bypass it if another one is better!

:-)
mmbcross
This is definitely the last time I vote! Each decision is just too agonizing. Now I know what it feels like to judge Miss World. How can you choose amongst such beauty?

I agree the Stonehenge and Dunedin shots are superb, but to be honest, they are a bit too postcardy for my taste. I look for a photo you just won't find on the racks at souvenir shops.

I agree - having been there pretty recently I can safely say I wish I'd seen it that light myself!

But I'm gonna have to go with number 4 aswell I think.
jeremystravels
I don't mean to hijack the thread or anything, but I was also at Stonehenge on a clear day like that and have tons of pictures with that style in the background on my facebook album here. You dont have to be a member or friend me to see it.

I do like the angle that the stonehenge picture was taken at. I voted for #4 because it is a very nice scene. I like the grass/weeds coming out of the water and reflection, which I think makes the picture for me.
sianeth
Yeah you do have some good shots Jeremy! In fact I even think some of yours are better...

Makes my cloudy pictures seem naff! Grrh...
mmbcross
Whoa! Wonderful photos. Why don't you enter something in the photo contest? Will you be my official photographer on my next trip?
introducinlyric

this batch are great! hard choice either 1 , 4 or 5 im leaning towards 1...just
kathryn77
Number 4 for me.

Jeremy - I preferred your photos of Stonehenge!
jeremystravels
Thanks everyone. I'll have to submit some photos sometime after I get back from my trip. Is there a process to enter or are photos randomly picked?
jrheavymetal
I would love to be visiting where number 1 is, but my vote goes to 4. If I was at Stonehedge, I would try awfully hard to find a creative angle to take photos from.

You would have to go for a special viewing where you can get up close to the stones, which is more expensive. The whole site is roped off and its pretty flat ground. Instead of being a direct circle around it though it is more like an oval so one point you are pretty far away while another point you are right on em. That is about the best you could get in terms of an angle..
jrheavymetal
Okay, that explains why so many of the pictures always seem to look the same.
raniroo
#4 for me...I liked this because or some reason I liked the relfection in the water amongst the reeds!

Although I really liked the peach tulips, macro photography is harder and the tulip in the foreground is very clear...
exploreamerica
what is wrong with #3 everyone? Is it because the other 4 are sites u haven't seen and #3 you've seen before in books? Well, that it. It is a perfect textbook shot
barsie
I voted #3 as well- not just a great picture it's also iconic scene.
nixsboys
Great photos everyone - always so hard to choose!

I am going to go for #4 as I just love the reflection.

I didn't see the above question get answered yet, and I am wondering myself, how do you come up with the pictures? And is it the same number of pictures from month toi month? Thanks.
starlagurl
Jacques goes through the "featured photos" from the home page and picks his favourites every month.
exploreamerica
But how do those get featured in the first place?

This website used to have a feature where you could request any of your pictures to be considered to be featured. I no longer can find that option and I think it is a shame
starlagurl
Really... let me see if I can find it...
starlagurl
Yep, it sure is gone!

I have heard word that it's going back in at some point, I don't know when. But for now, Jacques watches the photos and picks the best ones.

He pays more attention to photos with comments on them, I heard. So if you get comments in your photo album, he's probably considering your pictures for the photo of the month.

There are 2 ways for photos to get featured! The first is part of my tasks to go through the site hunting for great photos. The second is members who send me the link to a photo they would like featured and I review it to make sure that it meets our criteria and if it does, it gets featured. The more links I get the easier my job is....so come one everyone sned in those links to support@travelpod.com.

We used to have a link next to each photo that members could click and submit the photo they would like featured. The request would go to my email and a few of us woudl review the phot to make sure it meet the featuring criteria, but that link is gone. I think that the powers that be have realized that it was an error to remove it, and it will be back in the not too distant future!

Thanks and Keep Voting...

A big part of the criteria is that the photo would make a good postcard...but I veer off that ...errrrrr.....sometimes too often......but please submit links of any photo you see on the site that you think deserves to be featured to support@travelpod.com.

That link dissappeared with the last upgrade of the site...but I am told it will be back!

It should be noted that it's NOT comments from other people, but a story with the photo which gives the photo more value ... but that is not as big an issue as when we first started to feature photos and thus is not a must!

Ok...that's enough of my mouthing off for a while!
And it's User ID jacquesl and not just jacques although both are me!

I hope everyone is enjoying the photo of the month... just remember the more votes, every month, the more it's worth to keep doing it!
jrheavymetal
I think the photo thing is one of the cool parts of the site, though I have to say, I haven't found anything that I don't like here, the entire site is cool. And the forums here are way more lively then some of the other travel forums out there.
jacquesl
Congratulations to thepolishmaori for his beautiful winning photo for July 2009!
