Hi all,

I'm planning for a 10 - 14 days short trip to Holland (Amsterdam/Rotterdam/Utrecht) and France (Belford - Ronchamp and maybe Paris or Lyon) in 3 weeks' time and I have no idea where and how I'm going to get around! blink.gif

I'm trying to get some information on Eurail and some hostels on the internet... the information is overwhelming and very exciting. Something free and easy (and comfortable), my focus is Architecture, primarily Rotterdam and Ronchamp. Does anyone know whether Eurail brings me to Belford (the closest town to Ronchamp?) or any better means of getting there eg bus?

As Belford is a tad far from Paris, I'm thinking about skipping Paris (as I need to go back to Amsterdam to catch my return flight) and going to Lyon or Dijon and the nearby precincts, is there anything you could recommend? frantics.gif

Warmest,
FifaFi

I think since you're not really hopping all around Europe (maybe 6-7 cities), your best bet would be to buy the tickets as you go.

I went to the official website and it looks like there is a train that goes to Ronchamp (can you read French?):

Lyon is very quaint and cute, you will be happy you went there and not Paris if you have only a few days for Paris.

Have you thought about checking out Zurich? I heard it's nice there, and there is some good chocolate.

Hello,

when you are in Holland it will be easy to get a train ticket on the bigs train staitions (Amsterdam,Utrecht,Rotterdam). The name of the train company is NS. The website is www.ns.nl. Maby you can do it online, but remambert it will be no problem to pay it directly in Holland.
Good look and enjoy your time in Europe

Greetings

Hi Fifafi!

I just posted about the Netherlands in another forum just now. To save typing it again, see it here and if you want to question me on it, you can post back here in your own thread if it's easier.

One point on Adelebon's point above - although the Dutch train system is easy, if the ticket office is closed, you must have the money (in coins) to use the ticket machines, as they don't accept non-Dutch credit or debit cards

Sorry...I don't know where Belford is, never mind having ever been there, so hope someone else can help with that smile.gif
