Ths NY Times article is an indepth account of a kayaking trip beginning at the mouth of the Apalachicola River through to St George Island and beyond.

It includes a link to a map of each of the 26 segments of the Florida Circumnavigational Saltwater Paddling Trail.

Anyone ever paddled that?

A lot of this area consists of mangrove swamp, but as the article says, if you know where to look, you can find incredible white sand beaches all to yourself.

I wonder how long it would take to kayak all the way around Florida, from Alabama to Georgia?

That would be awesome! Could you stop at campgrounds along the way then? I've always wanted to try a paddle trip out for a week or two at least. I think it would be great fun. Being on the water is the best. Paddling in the ocean? Personally I think it's better than a lake but as a Canadian I hugely appreciate our enormous cache of lakes.

It is awesome, especially as you would do most of the circuit on protected inland waterways, such as the Intracoastal Waterway.

You can even cut across Florida on the Okeechobee Waterway
