I'm looking to travel to New Orleans next April/May time - I'm a USA virgin so any advice on accomodation etc. would be gratefully received. We are looking for comfort and value for money rather than luxury!

Hi Neil, welcome to the forums. If you REALLY want to save money on accommodations, check out Couchsurfing.com
If you prefer a little more privacy, however, check out the TravelPod hotel listings:

Every US city has a million motels and budget hotels to choose from, you won't go without a bed, for sure.
My personal view is to look at the area you want to stay in, then check out Trip Advisor to see what hotels/motels will do it for you. They are normally all fine, and you often get what you pay for.

Yeah the TripAdvisor reviews are always pretty reliable too.
