G'day
me and a few mates are planning on buying bikes in switzerland and ridding to Amsterdam. We plan on giving ourselves 2 weeks starting around the end of september, so that we can do some stop over at some cool places.
We are keen to see some of the less touristy places around europe but we don't know anything about what sort of route we should be taking..
Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated in terms of routes or places to vist/avoid (aka big mountains)
cheers

Hmmm. I've been looking at this for a bit now......The E35 is the main highway that runs from one point to the other from what I can see on a map. That's roughly an 8-hour drive. Is road cycling up your alley? That seems to be the most straightforward way, especially if you're looking to avoid any arduous paths.

There has to be some literature on this somewhere around the web..

would probably prefer not to do just main road cycling but this could definitely be an option. we are keen to see lots of towns along the way and could possible take some detours??

I'd try searching for cycling maps although that's what I did and didn't find anything that useful right off the bat. Perhaps some more time spent would produce better results. There definitely has to be some other routes to take.....I know what you mean about strictly road cycling. Though it can be really scenic, it could also end up being a drag at points. I'll look at this again and let you know if I find anything helpful. Also, try searching through the blogs here. That could be handy.

That's quite a ride!!

This website might be of interest to you:

Rhine Cycle Route

I believe Rotterdam (where this cycle route ends) and Amsterdam are about 30 miles apart .... you could easily hop on the train with your bike for the final part to Amsterdam.

Hope this helps.
