Well, after planning and changing my destination 3 times, my husband and I decided to go to Toronto, instead of Bogotá, Colombia. Nothing wrong with Colombia, but elections for a new president are in May and I don't feel comfortable going while all that commotion is going on. So we decided to visit family in Toronto, and since neither of us has gone there, it should be a nice trip to celebrate our 4th anniversary. Any suggestions?

Interesting choice - Bogota vs Toronto. One has lots of drugs and people who don't speak English, and one is in Colombia. (Just kidding.)
As for what to do, depends what you're into, I guess.
For touristy stuff, there's the CN Tower, which is worth a trip up, while it still has the tallest-building record; you could catch a Blue Jays baseball game; and Niagara Falls is always a favourite.
If you or hubby are into hockey, there's the Hockey Hall of Fame.
Once place I would recommend is the Distillery District, an area that used to house a lot of the liqour distilleries back in the days before prohibition. It's all been nicely renovated into restaurants, cafes, galleries, etc and there are jazz concerts and whatnot during the summer.

Thanks! We'll be getting there on May 12. I've been looking online places to go, and things to see and later I'll buy a book. I'm a little bit heartbroken for not going to Colombia, but if I don't feel comfortable, I wouldn't enjoy it.
I also want to go to Wonderland! Ahhh not a big fan adrelanie adventures but my husband is, so it should be a good thing to do.

Caro,
Wonderland is a blast!!
In terms of other things to see and do in Toronto, one of my favorites is walking through Queen Street West - sortof the Fashion district - tons of unique boutiques, good places to eat etc. The beaches are also nice, but not for swimming. haha.
And if you want to get out of town, you can always drive three hours up the road and come and see me in Kingston!

Jess, you're a sweetheart! Thanks for the invitation, will see if I get to go to your town. Is there any good restaurant that you will recommend? (Not to expensive). I'll like to take my hubby out for dinner the day of our anniversary!

Welcome Caro!
I have been to Toronto many times so if you have any questions, ask away. I also know some people there so I may be able to get you some "tour guides" or at least to meet up for a drink.
One thing you must do is visit the CN Tower...that just goes without saying. And do you know how long you are staying?
It may be worth taking a short side trip to Montreal...what an amazing change of culture in such close cities...

Carmella, thank you! I was really waiting for your comment. I'll be in Canada for 10 days. I have been looking for things to do, and I found a tour to Ottawa and Montral. It's only three days, but it may be worth it.
Let me know about the tours and your friends.

Hi Caro!
I know that you will have a wonderful time in Canada. The tour to Ottawa and Montreal is PERFECT! They are such amazing cities and I would love for you to experience them. Will you spend a night or two in these cities? What is the name of the tour you found?
When you come here, make sure you have some Tim Hortons coffee with some tim bits. This is our version of facturas y cafe con leche. But thats not to replace your lovely breakfasts of real maple syrupy pancakes!
As for your anniversary, what about going to Niagara Falls? You could easily spend the whole day around there. I will warn you it not like Iguazu if you have been there....its a different kind of waterfalls. Massive!

Carmella, I'm not really sure about the name of the tour, I know tha agency is in ChinaTown; my sister says that the tours are cheap and decent, so on friday when we get there I'll go to Chinatown and find the real deal. Do you live in Ottawa? Because if you do we can meet for "facturas and cafe con leche" ( I love Facturas). On saturday we are going to Niagara falls so now I have to find another thing to do for our anniversary. I was looking in toronto.com for cool restaurants and I found this
http://www.thesultanstent.com/ is a morrocan place, very cozy or at least looks like it. Have you been there? or heard any comments about it?

Caro,
Restaurants change so frequently in Toronto that it's hard to stay on top of what's good, what's chic and what's out. I recommend asking the concierge at a hotel (if you're not staying at one, you can just go in anyway and ask). They always have the inside track on what's hot.
The trip to Ottawa and Montreal will be great!
