I have the facebook application for travelpod, and it doesn't seem to be working? When i first added it, it wouldn't show up on my profile at all, and now it does, but is empty with the message 'No content to display This box will not be visible to people who view your profile until this application adds content to it'. Yet when i check the application via the applications menu it shows my map just fine. Anyone else having the same problem?

Hi,

I will pass your concern to our senior games people as I am not having this problem. Maybe they can see something and we will get back to you!

Cheers!

Thanks jacques. I thought i'd try removing it and adding it again to see if that helps but now can't add it back, the add application link just takes me back to the start page. Will keep on trying!

Facebook is still making a lot of changes related to the new profile page redesign that they launched last month.

We're working on a couple of fixes and we should have it online shortly.

Sorry for the inconvenience, Steve.

Everything Facebook related is working correctly again. This includes sending new entry notifications to your friends and the travel map.

We've been working to make the process a little easier so let us know if you still have any problems.

Hi Steve, maybe you are looking in the wrong place to find your TravelPod app.

I had the same problem, I thought my map was lost from Facebook forever!

I found out it's under the "boxes" tab in the new Facebook layout.

I am having the same problem as steve when I put travelpod on my wall. If I move it to the boxes tab it works fine, but if I want it on my wall, I get the message: "No content to display..."

Apparently Facebook is not going to stop tormenting us. blink.gif

We'll be working on a fix early next week. Sorry for the inconvenience.

This is typical of Facebook. What's the point in having TP it in the 'boxes' section out of sight? Who ever clicks the boxes tab anyway?

ericlussier
Not to defend what I know is an unpopular redesign, but I believe the boxes tab was implemented as a direct response to the MySpacing of Facebook. We all have those friends that added 300 applications and it took 10 minutes for their profile page to load! And once it did, the important information was buried in a pile of blinking zombies and "Do you think i'm hot" widgets.

So while it may put some things out of sight, it heavily reduce load time on a user's main profile page and hopefully people will eventually learn to check the boxes tab more frequently for all that other fun stuff.

Facebook has done a pretty remarkable job in the last year in managing a huge user base (100 million?) and a ton of developers that are trying their hardest to take advantage of all those eyeballs. They just need to learn to communicate with the dev community when they make these changes.

All that being said, TravelPod is going to make sure that your MTB Travel Map is displayed properly on your main profile page, so that your friends don't need wade through piles of cruft to find out where you are on this big wonderful planet.

Cheerio!

Yep. Good point Eric. Makes a lot of sense.

Actually I meant to ask before, what are the chances of having 'the most recent entry map' displayed in Facebook? Mainly for the purpose of showing where you are. I get so many messages and mails asking 'where I am', and it drives me up the wall. A 'HERE I AM!' would be useful, and a link/copy of the 'latest' map would be perfect for that.

Thoughts?

(BTW, what's an MTB Travel Map?)
starlagurl
Yeah, I like that idea too.

MTB = My Travel Blog wink.gif

Good suggestion, Scott. I've taken note and will pull it up next time we're working on Facebook related tasks.

Cheers
