happiness is in the pursuit of happiness: heard that sentence on a local TV interview. It striked me strongly!
After the first lightning strike, I lost all my inmediate memory recording. (the happiest times of my life...almost like "happiness is NO MEMORY!") My stored memory kept stutering as it did all my life, though. Serving tables on the Arcoiris 3rd floor restaurant, I watched waves & surfers since early morning.
My thoughts then went to the good life I enjoy on this reincarnation: specialy on the mountains of central México, where my two sons were born. (at home: not in a hospital! thanks to all Godesses!!!...and their mother)
The treks I did on those mountain trails, watching the spring time cavorting flight of eagle couples; or coatí family's with their little ones, looking for food under the dry leaves of the forest floor; the black flying squirrels, the skunks walking like drunks...so many marvels I witnessed (allways when no camera at hand, ogf course) on this life...then, it dawned on me a very strange thought:
At the moment I was living those wonderfull memories, I was desperatly looking how to go ahead & where to get needed money for my family. No job perspectives, living on a dayly basis only...looking for happiness!!!
3 years later, I recovered my inmediate memory mechanism after a skydive from 12,000 feet over the Ocean coast line of Oaxaca (the very best of therapy's!!!) Now I retain that thought forever (so far...) Now, when depressed or down, or no job perspectives, I say to my Self:
"I am living in a place full of plants, with wonderfull family, in excellent health, with my own free-lance bussines, half an hour from the magic mountains of Tepoztlán, where my friends are allways happy to see me go, after all those beers"...(another one "very best therapy"!) And then I cook some meal with whatever is on my fridge. After eating, I feel good and stop all idiotic desperate thoughts until next "downer".
Because of enjoying the mexican weather, here in the city "of ex-ethernal spring", I should be happy. Mexican weather on other communities is dissatrous! Only that, should remaind me of how lucky & priviledged I am...

Absolutely right
"For a long time it seemed to me that life was about to begin - real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time to still be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life.
This perspective has helped me to see that there is no way to happiness. Happiness is the way. So, treasure every moment that you have. And treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time … and remember that time waits for no one…
So stop waiting, until you finish school, until you go back to school, until you lose ten pounds, until you gain ten pounds, until you have kids, until your kids leave the house, until you start work, until you retire, until you get married, until you get divorced, until Friday night, until Sunday morning, until you get a new car or home, until your car or home is paid off, until spring, until summer, until fall, until winter, until you are off welfare, until the first or fifteenth, until your song comes on, until you've had a drink, until you've sobered up, until you die, until you are born again
to decide that there is no better time than right now to be happy…
Happiness is a journey, not a destination."

QUOTE(donyan @ Aug 27 2008, 09:16 PM) QUOTE(starlagurl @ Aug 18 2008, 01:24 PM) This makes me think of my favourite quote: "Just do it" Haha, no you know I'm joking... but really it's true. If you want to listen to loud music at 3 a.m., do it! Don't wait until it's too late.
...and it's never too early: neighbors should enjoy music too ...so much time spent sleeping!!! Haha good job Donyan, just what I want to say For me, hapiness is to be content with what you have. Then if you always desire more, you are never happy, just disappointed

So much around us, much more than we can imagine! But we fail to notice it...seeing without watching. Like mental blinds...
Every morning, I am ready for today surprises: how are they disguised?
Just the other night, I had one of those extremely vivid dreams: one of those never forgoten, with all it's details.
One past relationship, a very close one, arrived at my place and we talked for a long time. She was extremely radiant, happy. She looked younger than last time we met, the day we stoped our relationship. And she said she could understand what had separated our paths. She was not resented and apreciated my frankness about it (not that I feel it was a just decision! On the contrary...).
When I woke up, I knew she had just passed away to the Other Shore. Same thing when I dreamed with my father, after 40+ years of not addressing a word, nor seeing each other. He came to give me an embrace, saying: "now my hart is in peace".
On the next week, my son was living for Austria to get married. He told me that before living México, he wanted to meet his (only living) grandFather. We went to his house (my sister had his address) and he greeted us, then embraced me with those very same words. A month later, he passed away to the Other Shore...we were happy with our own lives, each one on his own way.
That was more sharing, than with many other people I see dayly. Of course I am crayze, I know...I treat my crayzeness as my best asset.
