I visited Columbia in the early 90's and had an incredible experience there so it is clearly my favorite country in South America. What made my travels so wonderful was the people I met and the friends I made.
In particular was a young lawyer I met in Ecuador who was on his holidays. We chatted a bit and he gave me his phone number and told me to call him when I got to Bogata. Eventually, I did and from then on he took me around, introduced me to his family and helped me see a side of the country I never would have otherwise.
The nice thing is that only this year (after about 10 years of losing touch) his older sister found me via the internet and I am in contact with them all again. So great!!

I was in Colombia last year and it was one of my favourite countries. Like aopaq the reason it was so great was because of the people I met. The Colombian people love their country and will happily show you the sites or point you in the right direction of places they love to visit.

I'm starting to believe that everywhere in Colombia is worth visiting. I've been there multiple times, and truly, if I get the opportunity, I'd live there the rest of my life.

To true - everywhere that I went was just great. It will be worth another visit for sure smile.png

My absolute favorite place in the world is the hot spring hotel in Santa Rosa, Los Termales. It's definitely worth looking up. It was pricey (by Colombian standards), but for $100 a night, my roommate and I were treated to 3 meals, and unlimited access to the hot springs. It was absolute paradise. I'm considering going back there after my current tour ends in March, treating myself to a little writer's retreat!

I found a video of another traveler's youtube, showing the view from the hotel:

I recently traveled to Cartagena Colombia.
I stayed at Casa Golan Hotel what an amazing place.
It has 14 high quality bedrooms with Plasma TV, hot water, AC, restaurant, pool, game room and a few steps from the beach. I really had a nice time there.
Contact Mati or Golan and tell them that Mike from Miami Florida sent you to them and they will give you a special price like they did to me.
Goal: 300-340-1420 Colombia
