Nominate me as a Local Expert
My friend is with this girl from Vietnam, Dalat. He sends her $2,000 every month for 4 years without fail. As they are not in the same country, they see each other only about 10 days a year but he loves her very much. Now he wants to marry her, she refuses to marry him and wants to walk away. My friend is heartbroken. Is there no such thing as true love?

I think this is the craziest thing I've read. It's like a high school maths question...! Wait and I'll try and figure it out...

$2,000 x 12 months x 4 years = $96,000
No.of days seeing the girl per year = 10 x 4 years = 40 days
$96,000 / 40 days = $2,400 per day of 'true love'

I haven't been able to factor in the travel costs for your friend to get to Vietnam once a year, as I don't know where they're going from, but I think the answer to this equation (I'm sorry to say) is: True love = Mug!

Hmmm, a number of years ago my sisters in Vietnam (their entire family of 5) lived on $600 a year.

$2000 a month? That is a lot in Vietnam. It is a lot anywhere. Even in Australia I didn't earn that much.

How did he afford to do that?

Anyway - it is a shame that things haven't worked out. But they either need to fix things up or move on. I don't think this forum will help them much.

And the $2000 a month could do wonders for me air_kiss.gif hug.gif air_kiss.gif
