Hey, nice one! Good article! The only thing I do tend to bring that you suggested not to is , well, not hiking boots, but sturdy walking shoes, but then, we tend to do alot of nature walks, hikes etc and find it's easier to bring my own. That being said, i also pack pretty light so don't find them too annoying to take along smile.gif

Hope all's well on your 2nd RTW! Look forward to reading more articles yes.gif

Take care. may The Force be with you.....

10. Guitar

Because there is a common consensus that people who travel with guitars are wankers.

Heyyyyyyyyy that is really good. I agree with the jeans statement, but I get hooked into bringing them every single time.

They DO tend to seem to get "less dirty" than other pants though.

I also REALLY agree with the guitar thing... funny story: my ex-boyfriend got REALLY jealous of a guitar-playing sailor in the Caribbean, for what???? A guitar will sure get you a lot of friends when you're traveling, IF you know a bunch of songs. But these friends won't hang around after the booze is gone...

I always take a comfy pair of jeans too. Usually a nice, lightweight, worn in pair. I always wear them consistently too. I like getting them on at night, even if it's hot.

Thanks guys! The article's just my subjective opinion of course wink.gif I do miss my jeans, but the way I travel (few clothes, hand-washing, drying in my room) I find they are not practical for me. Glad there are some differences of opinion; one of my goals in writing it was to stir up a bit of controversy poke.gif

Have to admit I took a pair of jeans last time and used them all the time. Not so much in Asia but daily in Australia where it was cooler in the evening. I actually wore them so much that I had to throw them away as they were falling apart! Sad day sad.gif

Yep Rich, settling in South Korea for a while I think. Need to hide out from a mob of dreadlocked guitar-carrying travellers that is hunting me crazy.gif

Thanks for the mention in the Travelpod News, Starlagurl. I'll get my thinking cap on and try to put together another "talking point" article or two in the next month or so. I'll ping them your way and if they're up to scratch perhaps you would consider featuring one again?

cheerios!

How does Korea compare to the other places you've visited? Must be pretty good as you've gone back there, or is there a girl involved............

Tried dog yet?

South Korea, I've heard is beautiful, I know a few people who have taught English there... I cry a little inside, every time I get a postcard from my friend Sandra, who is there right now... haha

No problem, Steve. I'd love it if you want to post articles on the TravelPod blog. Just let me know and I'll set you up with an account.

That goes for anybody else who wants to write travel-related articles, too.
