I need to get to Punta Gorda Belize from either Puerto Cortes, Masca, or SanPedro . What are my safe, affordable, and speedy options. Travel there is for the 31st of this month ( July) and I must return on the 4th or super early on the 5th to make an 11am flight back to the U.S.A. that departs from San Pedro Sula Honduras. Help me please. If there is not a direct shot from Puerto Cortes to Punta Gorda Belize,( im thinking ferry here) then how far is Placencia since that seems to be coming up alot in my google search. It is a group of 25-30 people. We will go by bus if need be but i was looking for the fastest way without it costing an arm and a leg and therefore thought ferry.

Hi Maddy,

I know there is an intermittent ferry between Puerto Barrios and Punta Gorda, but this is not much help for you.

Considering the size of your group, I am sure it would be much more economic to charter a vessel to take you from Puerto Cortez to Punta Gorda. Here is some info on the Puerto Cortez/Placencia ferry. I'm sure they can either charter a boat for you, or drop off your group at Punta Gorda on the way to Placencia

Another thought is to charter, or take the public bus, from San Pedro Sula to Puerto Barrios, Guatemala. Much easier now that the new road is open via Corinto. Then charter a boat in Puerto Barrios for the relatively short crossing to Punta Gorda.
