Dear people

I am hoping to go traveling for 3 months next year and would like to incorporate learning to surf. I have been thinking about taking a course in a surf school in south America as opposed to Australia as I have more of a desire to explore this edge of the world. However as a total novice I wondered if anyone has any advise or information as to surf schools in South America, is this a good place for a new comer to learn and if so what are recommended locations.

I would really appreciate any help or advice anyone can offer.

Many thanks Verity

Hi Verity, I just did a quick search of TravelPod and found some blogs about learning to surf in South America:

Peru and Costa Rica are the most developed surf destinations in S. America, with some lesser places in Guatemala and Ecuador.

Here are some links:

Peru:

Costa Rica:

Ecuador:

Guatemala:

Mexico:

Keep in mind that the Pacific coast is good for surf, not so much the Atlantic Coast that tends to have more "dumper" waves.
