I am a student in England making a documentary about climbing the pyramids, specifically Cheops.

I know it has not been allowed for a while now but I am also aware that it is still possible to do. I will be going to Cairo shortly to film, so any information on the following things would be most appreciated:

1) There is supposedly a written book which is periodically updated and kept in some hotel in Cairo with information on this subject, written I believe predominantly by Japanese tourists. Anybody know anything about this?

2) Where should one begin if I wanted to talk to somebody about this subject, such as a guide whom could be paid to take me up there?

3) Any information at all really from anyone who knows anything about climbing the pyramids today.

You want to climb up the outside? I don't know how/when you can do that. It's probably not allowed.

Maybe this was possible in the past but to climb the actual outside of the Pyramids is not allowed now. The monument has suffered enough accelerated damage due to environmental factors and tourism. There are even limited visits to go into the Great Pyramid in the effort to preserve it.

It is definately illegal. Government officials say that it is for tourist safety and site preservation. The stones that make up the outside of the pyramid are waist to shoulder high making climbing it a very difficult and dangerous climb.
