9 a.m. – 10 p.m.
Dukers volunteers will proceed to the bus station and José Joaquín de Olmedo International Airport to welcome any tourists arriving in Guayaquil, hand out leaflets about the event and invite all tourists to attend.

FIRST SHIFT: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
SECOND SHIFT: 1 – 6 p.m.
THIRD SHIFT: 6 – 10 p.m.

10:30 p.m.
Managers from Dukers, foreign delegations and the press will gather on the ‘Barco Morgan’ sightseeing ship as it cruises along the Guayas River, presenting the city in a unique and fascinating light.


9 – 10:30 a.m.
Welcome morning for tourists participating in our program. Each group of tourists will be assigned a Dukers volunteer guide who will organize sightseeing tours of the city.

10:30 a.m.

Venue: Guayaquil Municipal Library
Address: 10 de Agosto Avenue between Chile and Chimborazo

10:30 a.m. Arrival of local authorities
10:45 a.m. Welcoming address by Dukers volunteer Mr. Johnny Donoso
11:00 a.m. Piano recital by Manual Miño
11:30 a.m. The artistic stylings of Ronald
12:00 p.m. Speech by Mr. Douglas Reyes, executive president of the Dukers Foundation
12:15 p.m. Speech by the mayor of Guayaquil or his representative
12:30 p.m. Unveiling of the event’s promotional video

2 p.m.
Cultural activities for tourists, and trip around the location.

3 p.m.
Dukers Sightseeing walk 1 (approx. 3 – 6 p.m.)

Meeting point: Ancient fortress of La Planchada
Las Peñas neighborhood
Museum of Popular Music
Puerto Santa Ana revitalization project
Tour from Santa Ana Hill to the lighthouse

4 p.m.
Dukers Sightseeing walk 2 (approx. 4 – 6 p.m.)

Meeting point: Museum of Anthropology and Contemporary Art (MAAC)
IMAX movie theater
Pabellón de Donantes
Gardens of Malecón 2000
Recreational areas
La Rotonda monument

2 p.m.
Dukers Sightseeing walk 3

Meeting point: National Flag Memorial
Plaza de la Integración - Mercado Sur
Plaza Olmedo
Torre Morisca (Moorish clock tower)
Plaza de la Administración
Paseo de las Colonias
Plaza Cívica
La Rotonda monument (Here, the group will meet up with group 2 and continue the tour in the opposite direction)

Four sightseeing cruises on the ‘Barco Morgan’ (available only to tourists and Dukers volunteers participating in the event) will also take place at 3, 6, 8 and 10 p.m.

6 p.m.


1. Official opening by Mr. Andres Moreno and Ms. Katiuska Peralta
2. Performance by the Lorena Brown folk group
3. Arabic dance performance by Margarita Frese from Frankfurt, Germany (short introduction by Colonias de Guayaquil)
4. Official song of Dukers Guayaquil, Yo Soy Un Dukers (I’m a Dukers volunteer), written and performed by the band ‘Jack 5’
5. Performance by the band ‘Banda Cuadrada con Jair’
6. Special guest performance by Héctor Napolitano


10:00 a.m. – 11:30 p.m.
First International Foreign Friends General Gathering (each tourist should bring a traditional souvenir from their country for the craftwork exchange)

Meeting point: Plaza Colón

12:00 – 12:45 p.m.
Mass at the cathedral for all Dukers volunteers and guests

12:45 – 2 p.m.
Choral recital by students from the República de Francia elementary & middle school

2 – 4 p.m.
Tour of monuments at Seminario Park by the architect Parsival Castro Pita

4 – 6 p.m.
Tour of various city museums

NB: Throughout the day there will be sightseeing trips on Guayaquil Visión’s open-top buses, the Barco Morgan cruise ship, and on foot in groups of up to 6 people with Dukers volunteers.

That is interesting, what exactly are Dukers, a volunteer tour guide group? That's what it seems like on the website...
