After the recent incidents involving women who have been kicked off of planes for wearing too little clothing. Journalist on the travel-beat, Chris Elliott expounds upon the things that people should not be wearing on an airplane.

I kind of agree with him, but I don't think airlines should start regulating clothing. Come on now, if someone wants to look like a dime store hooker, who cares, really? If you don't want to look at it, avert your eyes, that's what I say.

I think there should be more regulations governing the amount of time you are without your luggage when it is inevitably lost, let's stick with what's important, folks. Namely, getting you and your belongings to your destination on time, appearances are inconsequential.

Yeah, strong scents don't bother me either, even if they are like, your grandma's from the Depression era, or cotton candy Wal-Mart.

I bet you don't remember, but once upon a time everyone dressed up in their Sunday best to fly. What a contrast today. Incredibly I still dress up a bit whenever I fly. Goodness knows why I bother.

I tend to think that anything acceptable on the street (with the exception of Reeperbahn and De Wallen) should be all right on a plane. Shoes and shirt required. If they want to freeze to death after that, it's their problem.

Wouldn't it be nice though, if it was like it was back in the day?

Well, they can *suggest* what to wear or not to wear...but I don't see how they could get away with regulating people's clothing. And having just been a victim of the terrible T5 incident where it took 2 weeks to get my suitcase I fully agree that they ought to worry about getting luggage where it should go first!!!! ranting2.gif

Welcome dcr. You certainly present a different view on things. In your profession I expect you see a lot of us at our worst.

The flight from Miami to London is a good example. I have to admit the Brits know what they are getting into and dress accordingly, but many poor Floridians think that paradise stretches all around the world and accompanies them on every trip. In their dreams!

So I don't really care how they look on the plane, I just wish they'd think about the weather ahead.

I agree, it's not very hard to check the weather report for your destination before you go (especially in the internet age!!!) It's such a simple thing to do, and many people don't even bother. Then they are not prepared at all!

(me = former Girl Guide, and ALWAYS PREPARED)

Hmm... well there's always the Weather Network if you have cable...and the "international weather report" on the radio...

I think you can also call the local weather station too...like Environment Canada will tell you the weather anywhere in Canada.

Goodness, weather.com will give you the weather in just about every location in the world.

Just as an example try:
Tarapoto, Peru
Dunedin, New Zealand
Fareham, United Kingdom
Prince George, Canada

It really is amazing how even the most obscure places are covered by weather.com. So if you have access to the internet, you have no excuse turning up in Hawaiian shirt and shorts at Dunedin in August. You can even choose between F and C.

What more can you ask?
