Hi

Im going to be in Laos and Cambodia during May - June 2010 and am having worries about drawing money out there.

Are cash machines avaiable in most places or would i be best getting money when leaving Thailand.

I was thinking of getting £700 in travellers cheques to take to use in Laos and Cambodia do you think this will last for 7 weeks? Would i be best just drawing money out on my debit card?

Thanks smile.gif

Hey Liam,

Ive just left Laos, and can assure you that all the larger towns where tourists go have cash machines and money changers. Even smaller places like Luang Nam Tha (tho its growing) had cash machines.

£100 a week will do you very well! So far rooms (decent budget rooms, so fan or even a/c, sometimes tv, all with own bathroom) were around £3 a night. Food is around £2 a meal and 80p for a can of beerlao. Soft drinks are around 40p. Shops are even cheaper. Luang Probang was a little more, and Vang Vieng (tubing place) was much cheaper.

Also youll be in low season so itll be even cheaper. Its pretty quiet even now in Laos (thailand is much busier).

Have a good one man, look forward to the blog!

No worries in Cambodia either Luke, certainly not in the larger towns. Enjoy.. thumbsup.png
