i'M TRAVELING TO SOUTH BEACH AND AM TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHERE TO STAY. I WAS LOOKING AT THE FONTAINEBLEAU (SPELLING!), BUT NOT SURE IF THE LOCATION IS TOO FAR AWAY. WOULD LIKE A NICE POOL ATMOSPHERE WITH A FUN COCKTAIL PLACE ALSO. This is my first time there. Thanks for any input : )

Everything depends on your budget and what you are looking for when you arrive. To give you an idea of location, Fontainebleau is on 42nd. Street. South Beach (Ocean Drive), where all the action is, is from 15th. to 5th. Streets. The pedestrian Lincoln Road is at 16th. Street. So having said that, Fontainebleau is not near South Beach, but is rather a resort in itself. If you are wealthy, then it's a great place to stay, if not, steer clear.
