This is a really nicely done video about a green hotel in North Carolina.

I'm wondering how much of this green travel is just superficial. I mean, every little bit counts of course, but I'm wondering how much extra energy it takes to create these fancy hotels, including a high tech elevator that charges up as it goes down.

And then, when people go to this hotel, they are driving there (like the reporter in the video, incidentally)... She says at the end "Conservation doesn't have to mean deprivation" .... well yeah actually it does....

If you couch surfed instead of staying at this luxury hotel, just think of how much MORE energy you could save...

A lot of this stuff just seems like a marketing gimmick to me. There's no real lifestyle change, which will ultimately help the environment, way more than token tweaks in small aspects of life will...
