Life is full of risks. Unless you take extreme precautions, you must trust your own body to protect you from these unhygienic practices. If practices such as this are done in U.S. hotels, imagine what happens in third world countries. When you put your head on the pillow, perhaps thousands of others have done exactly the same on that very pillow. All that's protecting you is a dubious pillow case. What's going on in the kitchen of the restaurant you are eating in? What's in the hot dog you just ate? What are the farmers feeding the cattle or spraying on the produce before it gets to the supermarket?
If you take extreme precautions all your life, you would go berserk. That's what antibodies are for. Regrettably if you live too clean a life, you have fewer antibodies. My Mum always said "a little dirt does no one any harm" as I crunched through sand in my lettuce leaf.
