Hotels in Alice Springs

Newbie Group: Members Posts: 2 Joined: 3-March 10 Member No.: 803621 Nominate me as a Local Expert	We are in the process of planning a trip to Oz in October/Novemeber this year. Mostly we are enjoying researching & choosing where to go, what to do etc. But the one item on our agenda we are making no progress on is where to stay in Alice. We will be arriving on the Ghan & plan to stay 2 nights to rest up before setting off to visit the Red Centre, so we are hoping for a little bit of luxury. Having looked at loads of websites & read loads of reviews we keep hearing very mixed opinions about most of the hotels. Can anyone help? Would be much appreciated! thanks

Theres a selection of properties in Alice Springs to cater for your requirements, from Hostels to 5 star hotels. Id liek to suggest a few of our 4+ star properties for you. Lasseters Hotel Casino, Crowne Plaza and the Alice Springs Resort. Also, the Aurora Alice Springs - the executive rooms - are quite appealing also. Of course, each of these properties has their own personality and features. For example, Lasseters is home to the Casino - the first casino that was opened on Mainland Australia, Crowne Plaza has the only heated hotel pool in Alice Springs, Alice Springs Resort is the only property to back onto the Todd River, and Aurora Alice Springs is located right on Todd Mall - the centre of Alice Springs. So theres a few different options and a bit of food for thought for you! Feel free to drop me a line if I can help you out any more! We are getting so excited about our big trip DownUnder!! We had looked at all the hotels you mentioned, but the reviews seemed so mixed we wondered if anyone could give any idea which of the bad reports were just the result of single unfavourable experiences & which were a geniune reflection of what to expect. Anyway, we decided to go for Lasseters & take up their offer of free loan mountain biles for getting into town. We'll let you know how we get on. Next step is choosing accomodation on Kangaroo Island. We fancy one night in Pennshaw to see the penguins, & one night at the western end of the island. Any suggestions? Thanks again G&G
