Hi,

I did a round the world trip last year for 2 months taking in the USA, Australia and Singapore.

I am planning to do another trip in say 2010 about January time to start I'll try and miss the rainy seasons this time!!!!

I want to do a say 4/5 month trip this time. Any help advise, maybe places to visit would be great. Lat time I did New York, Los Angelas, Brisbane, Cairns, Sydney, Ayers Rock, Singapore.

I would like to do San Fransisco, Grand Canyon then maybe a beach place for a week before heading to Australia.

Australia I will use my cousins as a base in Brsibane and fly to places from there like Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, Alice Springs, Ayers Rock, Whitsunday Islands.

Then maybe some places in Asia on my way back even maybe taking in the likes of Cape Town. Or if any one has any good ideas of places I could take in apart form what I have already mentioned.

My round the world ticket will be for the main long haul flights and the flights within Australia I will just book using their local flights with using Brsibane as a base, each time I will most likely stay in Brsibane for 2/3 weeks at a time. If I need to extend my trip to 6 months this is not a problem.

I am a single female and will be travelling on my own which I dont mind at all as you meet so many people on your travels I am also 43 so will be 45 when I plan t do the trip.

I look forward to your replies I know I have a long time till I go but if I have an idea on where I am going to go etc then that is the main part then all I need to do is find the best airline with the best RTW tickets and hotels!!!!

Gill x

That sounds like a great idea to me, how long will that take you? The whole year?

I've never been to any of those places, but I'm sure you will have a great time.

How come you're not going to Europe?

Hi Gill,

My name is Stephanie. I am 24 years old and I live in Toronto, Canada. My boyfriend and I are also planning a trip around the world in January 2010. We are visiting the following places, but we have not yet finalized the order in which we will be traveling. However, we do know that we will be starting off in Fiji and we will be ending our trip in June of 2010 on Pico Island in Portugal (one of the Azorean Islands). My boyfriend's parents own a house and a cottage there, so, we figure we'll spend a couple of weeks there prior to returning back home to re-couperate from our long 6 month journey. I would definitely recommend that you visit Portugal, not because I myself am Portuguese, but rather because it is such a beautiful place (if you're into a natural simplistic way of living). The islands are much more lovely than the continent itself. The summer months there are the same as in Canada (hottest in June, July, and August) which is why we are ending our trip there in June. We have decided to embark on this journey in January simply because we want to start off in Fiji, New Zealand, and Australia and apparently January-March are the hottest months in those places. I hope this info. is helpful. Good luck with the planning!

January / February:
Fiji
New Zealand
Australia
Hobart, Tasmania (Australia)

February / March:
Singapore
Dubai
Maldives
Egypt

March / April:
Madagascar
Cape Town
Cabo Verde
Morocco

April / May:
Copenhagen, Denmark
Barcelona, Spain
Venice, Italy
Paris, France

May/June:
Lisbon, Portugal
Faial Island, Portugal (Azorean Islands)
Pico Island, Portugal (Azorean Islands)

We are currently saving as much money as we can. We have no idea how much something like this will cost, but we were thinking of saving $20,000 each for this 6 month trip. We are leaning towards purchasing a round the world ticket, but we don't know if that is the best idea or if we should just purchase our ticket from Canada to Fiji and then wing it from there as we go along.

-Stephanie

Hi Gill,
Though i haven't yet taken a world round trip. What about from Australia to Thailand then East Africa to connect to Europe or middle East. From this destinations you head to USA! Long haul tickets will the best to use.
