Hi all

me and my friend are going to be spending May and June in Canada and we're hoping to see as much as is humanly possible during the time.

After taking the Trans Canada Railway from Toronto to Victoria during April we are hoping to travel north to Dawson City and on to Alaska for a week during June - Has anyone got any suggestions on the best way to travel this route on the cheap?

Thanks

To me the best way is to take the British Columbia and Alaska ferries all the way up the Inside Passage. It's like taking a cruise on the cheap. Go to the end of the route at Skagway and take the train into the Yukon, and then the bus from there. Plan to get on and off the ferries so you can experience the communities along the way.

Here are the appropriate links:
BC Ferries - http://www.bcferries.com/
Alaska Ferries - http://www.akferry.com/
White Pass Railway - http://www.whitepassrailroad.com/
Bus to Dawson - http://www.yukonalaskatouristtours.com/daw...ondiketour.html
Bus service in Alaska - http://alaska.org/gettingaround/advice-ala...-comparison.htm

Hopefully one of our Canadian moderators can find some blogs that cover this route.

Hope this helps a bit.

good day swanseajack

Actually the best time to do such a trip.

I suggest you to take a lift of someone to do the final trip from victoria to Dawson City.
The best way when you take the stewart cassiar highway.
I did it and it's just bloody thrilling to be out nowhere.
You will see a lot's of animals. The road is mostly unpaved and sometimes you have
a lot of streetwholes to avoid it's like a slalom sometimes.
Take enough food with you there aren't much stores.

If you need more infos just drop me a line

cheers
