We are planning to go to New Zealand in 2011.
We have been advised to go after early Febuary to miss all the school kids
Is this good advice?
We are retired so time is not an issue and we hope to book timeshare in both North and South Island/
This requires us to stay a week in each timeshare with of course days here and there on the way.
Any suggestions about how long you would need to do justice to both islands.?
We would like to fly by the western route with a stop off in hawai.
As the timeshares are only in particular areas ie north island near lake taupo/ auckland/ Bay of islands are we likely to miss important areas?
Where should we not miss?
We want to see as much as possible of the local culture
All advice very welcome

Early February is perfect for both the fact New Zealand is no longer on holiday and the weather is about as good as it gets for summer consistency.
I would suggest two weeks in the North Island and three weeks in the South Island.
The South Island is where you will see the most spectacular scenery and wildlife.
Timeshare in Taupo and BOI is good
You shoiuld not miss Rotorua, Queenstown, West Coast (South Island), the Fiordland National Park.

The problem with timeshares here is you must travel a bit to really see the country and "stuck" in one place for a week limits your ability to really see the real New Zealand.
Allow several weeks over and above your timeshare time...

Have a look at my videos for an idea of what is available -
