Hi there, just wondering if anyone has any advice about travelling from cairns to sydney? We're two girls and have heard that the best way is to travel by bus (greyhound) but are a bit worried that we won't be able to access alot of activities such as whitsundays etc if we do that. Also we only have about 16 days so what activities would people suggest are best to do in that short space of time? Thanks a mil!!

Distance within Cairns and Sydney is almost 2700 Km
but if u really want to enjoy your holiday than hire a car (webcarhire) or some thing like Campervan etc
and follow the route of Airlie Beach -->Brisbane --> Sydney, all along with coastal area.
There are lot of places to go between Cairns and Sydney like:

Great Barrier Reef
Daintree Rainforest
Queen St Mall
Moreton Island and North Stradbroke Island
Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens
Fraser Island
The Glass House Mountains
etc.

Try something different..............

We also rented a small, cheap car that could barely hold three girls' luggage and drove from Cairns to Brisbane. From there we found a cheap flight to Sydney because we were out of time. But driving that coastline is a beautiful experience and I highly recommend it. We visited the GBR, Whitsundays, Fraser Island, Australia Zoo, Noosa Heads for surfing, and met great people along the way ... it was an amazing experience!

Whatever you decide I am sure you will have a great time down under.
