Hi,

Im currently in Sydney and if anyone has any suggestions of a nice romantic getaway destinations they may have been too that would take 2 or so hours to get to out of Sydney CBD? I dont know NSW too much and Id love to go to the Blue Mountains but they seem hugely overpriced so im looking for the unfound treasures so it would not cost as much to stay for a few days there but it is still just as beautiful. Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks smile.gif

Hi Krystina

There are many options for a getaway out of Sydney varying from 1 - 4/5hrs depending on where it is you would like to go.
I would highly recommend the blue mountains as it is a great destination and if you stay at a B & B it would create that romantic getaway your after.
i stayed at a B & B called Kalima in Blackheath in the blue mountains - it was afforadable and in a great location (the owners are lovely) and it's only bout 2hours drive out of sydney.
Kalima B & B

There is also Terrigal which is really nice but may be a bit too touristy for your likings
Terrigal

The surrounding towns of Newcastle like Belmont and Swansea are quite picturesque but there isnt much to do up there aside from the beach. these towns are rarely visited by tourists which was its appeal to me when i went there.
im not particularly clued on with accommodation in those areas but found this
Belmont

have you considered Jervis bay its a bit of a drive though Jervis Bay

There's also the town of Berry on the South Coast of NSW
Berry

Shellharbour , Kiama , Ulladulla & Bateman's Bay are great places on the South Coast of NSW.

you cant go wrong with Port Macquarie either which is north of Sydney

a good site for ideas is VisitNSW

hope that helps smile.gif

i might add too that its dependant on your budget.
if your wanting to spend cash a resort would be a great luxury romantic getaway or alternatively a B & B would have a more intimate romantic feel at a far more affordable price

Damn, you beat me! I'll second Jervis Bay - absolutely GORGEOUS!!

If budget is tight, why not consider camping?

I guess it depends on how much Krystina wants to move around afterwards, but anywhere out of Sydney you'll prolly need to hire a car unless you're an adventurous cyclist. If you were asking about the value of the fare though, I'd say you did pretty well

I don't really know any camping sites cos I tend to do the kind of hike 30km a day then sleep it off kinda camping, which prolly isn't too romantic! You should be able to find some useful info here though:

And there's a tip sheet here on how to camp on the cheap: http://www.simplesavings.com.au/tipsheets/Camping.pdf
