My boyfriend lived in Singapore when he was a preteen and told me that everyone there speaks English. I was wondering if there were other English friendly South East Asian countries?

All of them really! Outside of the cities you may struggle though. Malaysia is the same as Singapore in that respect.

I believe English is actually an official language of Singapore. I'm doing a Master in Applied Linguistics and have even heard the term "Singaporean English" used.

I think it's less common in other South East Asian countries, although as the previous poster said, you will always find someone who speaks some English in the major cities.

Thailand was not too bad to get around in English.

Just don't try and use a map... or ask anyone to show you anything on a map, it doesn't work.

Lol thanks for the advice... but then how do you navigate yourself!

You can use it for yourself, but it's hard.

When you are in Thailand, just ask people and they will point you in the direction, they will NOT understand your map. It's very frustrating!
