I am heading to Bangalore on the 3rd of Feb, and am heading to Mysore, any suggestions how a single female shoud go about this?? Many thanks

I would say take a bus--you might be able to get a night sleeper bus, though the distance is not that far--Bus operators tend to put women together in seats if you are worried about that, should not be a problem.

Beware in mysore of the oil "Doctor," he is a scam artist. buy your oils from the baazar or markets, or better from the factory. The "doctor" is easily recognizable by his gold teeth and glasses. He will charge super expensive rates for oils and etc.

Enjoy the Palace, and up in the hills there are things to see as well, I believe some sort of giant Nandi statue, and of course temples.
