Hi, I am currently in Brisbane half way up the East Coast of Australia in my very nice Toyota Camper van with my partner. We are allowing 10 days up in Cairns to sell the Camper van.
What are the best methods to advertise and get the best and quickest deal. I am thinking mainly of Gumtree as its free and that is where i bought it from!
Any help would be great. Going to be up there selling it middle to end of February before heading to Alice Springs.
Thanks in advance.
Nick
Hi Nick,
We live now on the North side of Brisbane after doing extensive travelling with our family around Australia for 3 years. We have been settled for 6 months.
We have always used the Trading Post. Their website is tradingpost.com.au
They offer an internet based site you can upload the information and photo of your camper. It does cost money but in your circumstances of a ten day period, it may be your best bet. No matter what Australian you talk to everyone here, uses the trading post.
We do know of a website called OzWit.com who will soon be launching their site and they are offering a classified section with an online advertising cost of $35.00 til sold.
We recently sold a motorhome for a our Mum and Dad and we basically took it everywhere there was a lot of people. We went to Markets and put a big sign on it in the carpark. We went down the foreshore with 10,000 other people on Australia Day. Try and get your camper to a larger captive audience, you just never know what will really work best.
Some of our local radio stations also have period of time, generally in the morning where you can verbally pitch what you are selling on air, look into this in the Cairns area.
Don't forget you need a safety certificate in Queensland before you can sell any mode of transport, so be sure you visit a mechanic first. This will certainly speed up the process on sale!
All the best mate.............Raquel
